THE FAIR
The Hungry Eye Fair is a boutique art fair with the allure of a museum, fully dedicated to fine art photography.
Breaking away from the traditional art fair model with standard booths, this event redefines what an art fair can be.
Hungry Eye Fair presents photography through three temporal lenses: the past (vintage), the present (contemporary), and the future (emerging talent).
The fair also features a high-quality restaurant and a curated photography book market.
Hungry Eye Fair aims to create a total experience — both for seasoned art collectors and curious enthusiasts alike.
This five-day event will be open to the public from September 17 to 21, with an official opening on September 17 and an exclusive sponsor evening on Saturday, September 20.
The program offers a rich selection of world-class international photography while also spotlighting promising new voices in the field.
Located in the vibrant North of Amsterdam, the unique venue OPEN DOOR will be transformed into a 3,500 m² pop-up museum.

ABOUT THE FOUNDER
Roy Kahmann — Founder & Director — Hungry Eye Group
Roy Kahmann, born in Amsterdam in 1959, is a designer‑turned‑collector, curator, publisher and photography entrepreneur who has placed Dutch and European photography on the global stage. He launched Kahmann Gallery in late 2004, originally focused on vintage Dutch photography and now showcasing both national and international emerging and established photographers. In May 2025, Kahmann Gallery rebranded and joined his wider Hungry Eye Group, unifying his ventures under one umbrella, including the newly named Hungry Eye Fair (replacing Haute Photographie).
The Hungry Eye Gallery
Originally Kahmann Gallery, the Hungry Eye Gallery was founded in 2004 by Kahmann. It now operates both gallery spaces and pop‑ups across Amsterdam, Rotterdam (2021),Paris (2024) and Berlin (2023), blending vintage, contemporary, and international photographic works. It also coaches new talent through the Hungry Eye Gallery LAB.
GUP Magazine
Also founded in 2005, is GUP Magazine (Guide to Unique Photography) a quarterly international publication dedicated to photographic artistry and emerging talent. It’s become a key platform for photographers seeking global exposure and is respected in galleries and institutions worldwide. GUP Magazine is now mainly operating online through the website and the social media channels.
Fresh Eyes & Talent Books
Starting in 2011 (GUP NEW Talent books) and continuing with later editions like Fresh Eyes (launched 2019), Kahmann publishes curated photography books spotlighting top emerging talent from (first) the Netherlands and later Europe/worldwide. Each edition features up to 100 selected photographers, offering them exhibition exposure and industry access.
The Hungry Eye Fair
Formerly known as Haute Photographie, this curated, museum‑style photography fair was launched in 2015 in Rotterdam. In September 2025 it officially becomes the Hungry Eye Fair in Amsterdam. Still offering a high‑end, immersive experience combining exhibitions, talks, and a bookstore, now unified under the Hungry Eye Group brand.
Artibooks
Since 2016, Kahmann has also directed Artibooks.com, an online bookstore and publishing platform for photography books, including his curated “talent books” and fine art editions that accompany Fresh Eyes and other projects.
In Summary
Roy Kahmann’s Hungry Eye Group is built around a vision: to identify, nurture and promote photographic talent through multiple eras of his career. His integrated ecosystem, GUP Magazine, curated Talent Books like Fresh Eyes, the Hungry Eye Gallery, and experiential platforms like the Hungry Eye Fair and Artibooks, constitutes a full-spectrum platform for emerging and established photographic voices.
