Join us in celebrating this evolution: from ten years of HAUTE to the first steps of Hungry Eye.
Stay hungry, stay foolish.

AMSTERDAM DEBUT
VISSER & VAN LEEUWEN
Visser & Van Leeuwen began working together in 2019, driven by a shared love for storytelling. Their work blends photography, collage, and craft into playful, dreamlike scenes.
Often, a memory sets things in motion, a photo, a piece of fabric, something found in nature. These fragments are combined with handmade objects and vintage clothes. Each story is named after someone who brings it to life.
In their studio, roles shift. A desk lamp becomes a light source, a washing machine glass becomes a lens. Accidents are welcome. The result is a world both strange and familiar, layered, colourful, and full of wonder.
Their work invites the viewer to look closer, and to dream a little.
STILLNESS IN MOTION
JULIA DONGSTRA
Julia Dongstra is drawn to the quiet in-between moments, a fleeting gesture, a shadow on skin, a glance that lingers longer than expected. Her work, whether in photography or film, captures stillness as something alive and electric.
Often working with natural light and muted tones, she builds images that feel both personal and universal. There’s a softness in her framing, but also a sharp awareness of time passing, of presence, of absence.
Inspired by memory, movement, and the body, her practice unfolds slowly, like a conversation. Nothing is forced. Everything is felt.
During Hungry Eye Fair Amsterdam, Dongstra presents new work that invites viewers to slow down and look closer, to notice what usually slips by.
HUNGRY EYE AMSTERDAM TALENT 2025
LINDA BOERSMA & BOUDEWIJN MENSINGH
Linda and Boudewijn began collaborating in 2021, merging distinct backgrounds in fashion, photography, and visual theory.
Linda studied fashion at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy and worked with styling agencies and Dries van Noten in Antwerp before shifting her focus to photography. Boudewijn studied at the Harrow School of Photography in London, with a practice shaped by commercial work and a deep interest in philosophy and art history.
Together, they approach photography as a language of fragments, using images as building blocks to construct new narratives. Meaning emerges through association, intuition, and quiet tension.
At Hungry Eye Fair, they make their Amsterdam debut as emerging talent, presenting work that reflects their shared curiosity and evolving visual dialogue.

FROM ROMANIA
STEFAN NEAGU
Since 2016, Stefan Neagu has embraced the analog photographic process across various formats, viewing it as the most disciplined and intentional way to approach image-making. He self-develops his films, favoring a process that—like jazz—blends structure with improvisation. This approach is not born of nostalgia or novelty, but of a deep passion for the craft of photography.
His printing process is hybrid: the final works are produced as archival pigment prints for lasting quality and tonal depth. Often modest in scale, rarely exceeding 30 to 50 cm, these prints invite close, contemplative viewing, like entering a whispered conversation.
Stefan’s subjects vary from landscapes to nudes to portraits but share a unified visual language. His work consistently explores the elegance of form, geometry, and composition. Regardless of genre, each image carries his distinct sensibility, where the ultimate pursuit is to find and frame beauty with clarity and restraint.
Discover Stefan Neagu’s quiet, crafted world this September at the Hungry Eye Fair in Amsterdam.
FROM SOUTH AFRICA
FRANCOISE V
Françoise V is a visual artist and photographer whose work is deeply rooted in her connection to Africa, a place that continues to shape her creative identity. Drawn to the continent’s untamed beauty, rich cultures, and layered narratives, Françoise captures her subjects through a lens of quiet reverence and refined minimalism.
Her photographs are marked by delicate, earthy palettes echoing the tones of African landscapes, and a sensitivity to elegance and nuance. Each frame invites the viewer to slow down and witness the subtle details that often go unnoticed moments of stillness, texture, and emotional depth.
Guided by a spirit of curiosity and storytelling, Françoise’s work encourages reflection and fosters a sense of intimacy with the natural and cultural heritage she portrays. Through her images, she hopes to inspire a deeper appreciation for Africa’s singular beauty and a shared responsibility to protect it.
FROM CZECHIA
EVA CHUPIKOVA
Eva Chupíková is an independent photographer and freelance illustrator based in Czechia. Her work navigates the subtle emotional territories of both portrait and landscape photography, drawing parallels between the two. Whether photographing a face or a field, she seeks out form, texture, line, and balance elements that reveal something deeper than surface.
Her portraits are approached with the same quiet precision as her landscapes, treating the human figure as part of a larger, visual topography. In turn, her landscapes become reflective spaces, echoes of internal states, inviting both introspection and shared human connection.
Eva’s distinctive visual language has earned her international recognition, with award-winning work featured in exhibitions and publications around the world.
Experience her evocative work in person this September at the Hungry Eye Fair in Amsterdam.
FROM VINTAGE TO CONTEMPORARY
BARRY KORNBLUH
During the early 1970s, Kornbluh began photographing while pursuing a degree in Art History. He moved to New York in 1977 and studied photography with Lisette Model who guided him towards a personal and intuitive style. During the 1980s, he worked in the archive of Magnum Photos and later freelanced as assistant to Elliott Erwitt, Susan Meiselas and Paul Fusco. Soon he was taking on his own assignments which included photographing the New York jazz scene as well as making portraits of literary and art world notables. However, his personal work remained at the forefront.
In the 1990s, Kornbluh moved to Amsterdam, where his poetic images of family and friends captured in grainy black & white took on new importance. In 2006, he joined Kahmann Gallery and would soon gain recognition for his dark and dreamy nudes and atmospheric landscapes. Although Kornbluh is a master of analogue photography, he has recently embraced the digital printing of his work allowing him to produce images in large formats.

COVER ARTIST - HUNGRY EYE FAIR AMSTERDAM 2025 EDITION
ASHA SWILLENS
Born in 1994, Asha Swillens is a digital artist, image maker, and photographer based in Belgium. With a background in fashion studies in The Hague and Antwerp, her early work explored mixed media and garment design through fashion collages. Since 2020, her focus has shifted toward photography, allowing her to translate her visual language into image-making with a refined emphasis on atmosphere and aesthetics.
Swillens’ practice is strongly informed by her in-depth research into 17th-century painting—particularly its dramatic use of light and shadow and the restrained elegance of black, white, and ton-sur-ton palettes set against dark, moody backgrounds. These historical references shape her contemporary visual narratives, which evoke the sensation of distant memories: images that are both timeless and unmistakably modern.
All of her works are digital collages—carefully composed from real elements to form fictional, dreamlike scenes. In doing so, she challenges the boundary between reality and construction, exploring perception, memory, and illusion.
In recent years, Swillens has gained increasing recognition within the Netherlands, establishing herself as a distinctive and evolving voice in contemporary photography.
She is the featured cover artist for this year’s Hungry Eye Fair edition, reflecting the fair’s dedication to forward-thinking and boundary-pushing image makers.
